Scripture: Psalm 48:1–3, 9–10, 14 (NASB)
1 Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised
In the city of our God, His holy mountain.
2 Beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth,
Is Mount Zion in the far north,
The city of the great King.
3 God, in her palaces,
Has made Himself known as a refuge.
9 We have thought over Your mercy, God,
In the midst of Your temple.
10 As is Your name, God,
So is Your praise to the ends of the earth;
Your right hand is full of righteousness.
14 For such is God,
Our God forever and ever;
He will lead us until death.

Devotional: Great Is the Lord
Psalm 48 celebrates the greatness of God and His presence among His people. The psalmist describes Mount Zion—Jerusalem—as the joy of the whole earth because God dwells there. But it’s not just about a physical place—it’s about the nearness of God, who is our refuge and guide.
Verse 14 reminds us that God is not only great—He is personal:
“He will lead us until death.”
What a comfort to know that the same God who is praised to the ends of the earth is also walking with us day by day. His love is both vast and near.
When we dwell on His mercy and greatness, our hearts overflow with gratitude, and that gratitude becomes a witness to others.
⸻
Encouragement for Today:
Let the greatness of God fill your heart today—and let it show. Be an example of Christ’s love in how you speak, serve, and respond. You may be the reminder someone needs that God is still good and still near.
⸻
Prayer:
Lord, You are great and worthy of all praise. Thank You for being both my refuge and my guide. Help me reflect Your love and kindness today so others may see Your greatness through me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Now go and shine His love today—live like you know the God who leads you forever.
