Scripture: Psalm 49:5–9, 15 (NASB)
5 Why should I fear in days of adversity,
When the injustice of those who betray me surrounds me,
6 Those who trust in their wealth
And boast in the abundance of their riches?
7 No one can by any means redeem another,
Or give God a ransom for him—
8 For the redemption of his soul is priceless,
And he should cease imagining he can pay for it—
9 So that he might live eternally,
That he might not undergo decay.
15 But God will redeem my soul from the power of Sheol,
For He will receive me. Selah

Devotional: True Riches Are Eternal
Psalm 49 is a wisdom psalm that offers perspective in a world that often worships wealth, status, and success. The writer reminds us that earthly riches cannot save us. No amount of money can purchase eternal life or redeem a soul.
Verse 15 is the hope of the faithful:
“But God will redeem my soul from the power of Sheol, for He will receive me.”
This is the gospel in a single sentence: we can’t save ourselves—but God can. Our value isn’t found in possessions but in the price God paid for us through Christ.
When we understand this, we begin to live differently. We focus less on what we can gain and more on how we can give, love, and serve others in Jesus’ name.
⸻
Encouragement for Today:
Live today with eternity in mind. Be an example of Christ’s love by valuing people over possessions and showing others the richness of God’s grace. Your kindness may be the very thing that points someone to the true Redeemer.
⸻
Prayer:
Lord, thank You that I don’t need wealth or status to be loved by You. You have redeemed me by Your grace. Help me live today with eternity in mind and be an example of Your love to everyone I encounter. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Now go and show others the eternal riches found in Christ—be a living example of His love today.

Very true salvation can’t be achieved through riches. Also being friendly is free so give it away every chance you get ! In Jesus name Amen.
