Scripture: Psalm 54:1–4, 6–7 (NASB)
1 Save me, God, by Your name,
And vindicate me by Your power.
2 Hear my prayer, God;
Listen to the words of my mouth.
3 For strangers have risen against me,
And violent men have sought my life;
They have not set God before them. Selah
4 Behold, God is my helper;
The Lord is the sustainer of my soul.
6 Willingly I will sacrifice to You;
I will praise Your name, Lord, for it is good.
7 For He has saved me from all trouble,
And my eye has looked with satisfaction upon my enemies.
Devotional: The Lord Is My Helper
Psalm 54 is a prayer David offered while being betrayed and hunted. Instead of panicking, he turns to the One he knows can help: “God is my helper; the Lord is the sustainer of my soul” (v.4).
David didn’t trust in his own strength or in the loyalty of people—he placed his full confidence in God’s name and power. That’s the same God who helps you today.
No matter what pressure, betrayal, or burden you’re facing, God is your helper and sustainer. He doesn’t just save you—He holds your soul steady.
And when you truly believe that, like David, you can respond with praise and peace.
Encouragement for Today:
Let the strength and kindness of God flow through you today. Be an example of Christ’s love—someone might need your calm spirit, kind word, or gentle encouragement to remember that God is near.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for being my helper and the sustainer of my soul. Help me to trust You when things get hard and to reflect Your love to others today. Let me be a reminder to someone else of Your faithfulness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Now go and be an example of Christ’s love—point someone to their Helper today.
