Scripture: Psalm 57:1–2, 7–11 (NASB)
For the music director; set to Al-tashheth. A Mikhtam of David, when he fled from Saul in the cave.
1 Be gracious to me, God, be gracious to me,
For my soul takes refuge in You;
And in the shadow of Your wings I will take refuge
Until destruction passes by.
2 I will cry to God Most High,
To God who accomplishes all things for me.
7 My heart is steadfast, God, my heart is steadfast;
I will sing, yes, I will sing praises!
8 Awake, my glory! Awake, harp and lyre!
I will awaken the dawn.
9 I will give thanks to You, Lord, among the peoples;
I will sing praises to You among the nations.
10 For Your mercy is great to the heavens,
And Your truth to the clouds.
11 Be exalted above the heavens, God;
May Your glory be above all the earth.

Devotional: Refuge in the Shadow of His Wings
David wrote Psalm 57 from a dark place—hiding in a cave, running for his life from Saul. Yet even there, he found peace. How? He chose to rest in the shadow of God’s wings (v.1), trusting that God would protect, provide, and deliver.
David wasn’t just waiting to survive—he was choosing to worship. He said, “My heart is steadfast… I will sing.” That kind of faith doesn’t come from perfect circumstances, but from knowing God is in control even when life feels out of control.
No matter what you’re facing today, you can find safety in God’s presence and strength in His promises. He’s not distant—He’s your refuge.

Encouragement for Tonight:
It’s Wednesday—and there’s no better place to be than in God’s house. Come gather, worship, and be refreshed in His presence. Midweek services are a chance to realign your heart, encourage others, and be reminded that God is still working.
Let your heart be like David’s: steadfast, thankful, and full of praise. See you tonight!
⸻
Prayer:
Lord, I take refuge in You today. In every trouble, help me trust that You are covering me with Your wings. Strengthen my heart to praise You no matter what I face. Prepare me to worship with my church family tonight. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Now go and take refuge in His presence—and make plans to be in church tonight!
